Reyna Young, also known to horror fans as Miss Misery, the TV horror hostess of the nationally syndicated show Miss Misery’s Movie Massacre, has been labeled by press as "The Queen of Horror in the Bay Area." She resides in San Francisco, California, with her husband John Gillette and their son Logan. Together, they run Last Doorway Productions LLC, an independent film company, and Last Doorway Press, its publishing imprint. An award-winning director, actress, and filmmaker, Reyna has over 25 years of experience in theater, television, and film. She is the director of Doll Murder Spree, Forgotten Tales, and Women in Horror Documentary: Welcome to My Darkside. She began her career in acting after being inspired by John Carpenter’s Halloween, training in dance, singing, tap, martial arts, and acting, and landing roles in commercials, independent films, and theater productions. Early in college, she transitioned behind the camera, writing and directing her first short film and eventually founding Last Doorway Productions with her husband. Reyna is an Amazon bestselling author, with multiple titles charting in the Amazon Top 100, including the Scream in the Night horror anthology series, which she compiled and edited, and her novel Slasher Girl. Her other works include When Darkness Falls and Natalie’s Home. She also writes children’s books, including the Monsters series, Halloween Night, and The Pumpkin Man of Hallow Falls, showcasing her range across genres. In addition to her film and publishing work, Reyna ran the Bay Area film festival A Nightmare to Remember for six years, and produced events like Zombie Proms. Her work continues to combine cinematic storytelling, horror, and genre fiction across multiple media, solidifying her place as a versatile creator in the horror community.
